What to Expect:
At Midigama Fruit Farm, expect an enriching and immersive experience beginning with our "farm to glass" seasonal fruit juice. Your guided tour, led by an expert agriculturist, starts with a historical overview since our founding in 1996 by ecological farming pioneer Michel Vass Gunawardena.
Explore zones C & B, identifying various flora, and proceed to zone F to witness our innovative food forest project. The second part of the tour includes demonstrations of 2-3 natural fertilizer or pesticide preparations, such as Biochar, Jeewamrutha, fish tonic, Jadam, vermicompost, and compost tea.
In the third part, you'll observe the best agroecological practices in action, including mixed crop cultivation, contour farming, live fencing, cover crops, SALT, nutrient recycling, mulching, contour drains, step ditches, natural mulching, sediment trap ditches, and soil conservation silt traps.
Visit our spiritual hangout, a conservation plot for rare fruit and indigenous medicinal plant species. The tour concludes with a farm-to-plate lunch at our Conscious Food Studio, featuring ecologically grown, organic, and freshly harvested produce.
