Ibbankatuwa Entrance Ticket

Located in proximity to Dambulla, Ibbankatuwa is known for its Megalithic Tombs that date back to 700-400 B.C. An ancient burial site, which is somewhat thought to belong to the megalithic prehistoric and protohistoric periods were first identified in 1970. A protected archaeological area in Sri Lanka, Ibbankatuwa spreads across 15 acres while the tomb complex covers an area of 1 km² with about 42 clusters of tombs. Each cluster consists of about 10 tombs while each has been enclosed with stone slabs. Cremated remains, tools and grave goods have been found here along with large terra cotta urns containing cists. Various artefacts and necklaces with gemstones from foreign lands have been discovered here as well,
